How many people have died of the coronavirus in India? The official number is just shy of 500.000. Independent data journalist Rukmini S has analyzed the data from three Indian states and discovered that the real number is much, much higher. In this talk, she explains her methods and explains how the pandemic has created a network of grassroot data journalists who have done the work more established media houses have been reluctant to do.
